Why Being Unaware of Our Destiny a Blessing for Us

Have you ever wondered how life would have been if your fate was laid out in front of you? How do you imagine it would have impacted your life? What would it feel like knowing the consequences of our actions, our hard work? Or would we even give our 100% in that case? Knowing what our fate has in store for us could be a source of a lot of our problems.

Art Dinick wrote the book As Fate Would Have It” in an attempt to describe how the nature of life really is. As someone who embraced a close encounter with death after a race car accident that took place when he was in his thirties. This incident changed his perspective on life. He mentions how he subconsciously recalled the glimpses of his life’s moments flashing past when he almost lost his life. He paints a touching scenario and presents valuable life lessons to help other people understand how precious this life in which we usually take for granted.

 Hope is a Gift

Being hopeful is nothing less than a blessing. What makes us humans move forward and constantly strive for better is hope. We are unaware of the bliss that awaits us in the future. The thought that our efforts would someday reap results ignites in our mind motivation to continue doing what we want to achieve in life.

Feelings of Helplessness and Agony

Having a knowledge before-hand of all the dismay, troubles, hurdles, challenges, and losses that we would encounter would only make us feel devastated, helpless, and depressed. Imagine knowing in advance that you are to go through the tragic death of your loved one. Or you are going to face challenges in getting a job or have serious health issues in the future. It’ll be traumatizing to know these things in advance. And we will only feel helpless and grieved all the time.

Would Struggling even Matter?

There would be no point in putting in efforts and doing all the hard work. Why would you struggle if you knew you are going to achieve it anyway? Or why would you bother working for something that is not destined to be yours?

We will be forced to think that we are helpless all our lives. Blindness to the future is a gift, and this is how it was always supposed to be. So no matter how one tries to ‘predict’ the future, we can never know that for sure. And come to think of it, we’re better off without knowing it, right?
